Job summary

CosmoProf Beauty is seeking a Salon Business Consultant to cover Columbia, SC and surrounding areas, driving salon sales and introducing new products. You will grow accounts through in-person visits, social media engagement, and educational events, delivering on monthly and quarterly targets while representing the brand with a professional, customer-focused approach.

Ideal candidate has outside sales or beauty industry experience, strong relationship-building skills, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

Job Title: Salon Business Consultant

Salon Business Consultant is a sales solution specialist role covering and growing a territory in and around Columbia, West Columbia, Camden, Chapin, Lexington, Irmo, Lugoff, Newberry, Prosperity, South Carolina (SC). Ideal candidate would reside in or near Columbia, SC.

Uncapped commission, vehicle reimbursement plan, and full benefits.

Essential Function

Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred.

The Salon Business Consultant is responsible for an assigned territory of customers, their main focus being to help grow their salons' overall sales. The Consultant will be responsible for meeting and achieving assigned sales goals by utilizing manufacturer education and sales resources. Sales should be expanded by opening new doors, selling approved beauty products, and introducing new products and concepts. The Consultant will actively use all forms of social media to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed beauty professionals.

Primary Duties
  • Grow the Business:
    • Identify key accounts within territory and establish an efficient route to grow and develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships.
    • Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and tracking results of all in-salon promotions, programs, and concepts.
    • Determine customers’ needs and offer products and services to meet those needs.
    • Communicate all sales initiatives by partnering with vendors, achieving corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
    • Acknowledge and respond to all email, text, and phone communication within 24 hours.
    • Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within that salon.
    • Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals.
    • Strictly comply with procedures for processing returns, including pickup and required documentation.
    • Work with all business areas: customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other functions.
    • Prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and digital outlets.
    • Effectively manage all administrative aspects, including daily order entry and regular maintenance of customer information in Salesforce.com.
    • Attract and retain salon clientele using social media as a communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge tool.
    • Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes.
    • Communicate with Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, follow-up plans, and assistance needed.
  • Grow Team and Culture:
    • Act as a subject matter expert on digital platforms & social media, sharing knowledge with peers.
    • Attend all meetings, functions, and events and maintain regular contact as established by the Company or Supervisor.
    • Be available for shows, setup and dismantling of displays, booth handling, back stock, and other physical activities.
    • Support new initiatives with a growth mindset while fostering positive change management throughout the team.
  • Grow Yourself:
    • Show a desire to learn and grow; strive for continuous improvement and master digital & social media techniques.
    • Schedule and attend Business Development Days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and build vendor relationships.
    • Allocate and optimize time for learning using available tools and resources.
    • Remain agile to market changes while building industry knowledge and intuition.
    • Actively work to increase own product, industry, and market knowledge.
    • Create an organized work environment and workflow to efficiently serve customers.
Experience And Skills Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of one year of outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with emphasis on consultative selling.
  • Must live within the assigned territory.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms to build pipelines, books of business, and other business needs.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle; iPad experience is a plus.
  • Ability to build an online community and create social connections using search engines and other internet tools.
  • Position requires local travel, attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events, which may include overnight travel and/or weekend nights.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Frequent, sometimes prolonged periods of driving are necessary.
  • Committed to scheduled hours with flexibility for additional hours based on business needs.
  • Strong time management and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting rooms, retail stores, residences, or commercial vehicles. Typical safety practices include safe work with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations, traffic signals, and more.
