Job Description
Advance Auto Parts is hiring for two entry‑level positions: Salesperson and Store Driver. Each role supports our DIY business and commercial customer service, and can be part‑time or full‑time. Fleet safety certification is preferred for both roles.
Salesperson – Role Overview
The Salesperson helps store customers with in‑store and phone purchases, provides DIY services (battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.), and supports inventory and operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goals and assist the store in meeting its sales objectives.
- Deliver DIY services, including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, and related tasks.
- Maintain store product and operational standards.
- Perform inventory processes such as truck putaway, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back‑stock management.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot.
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back‑stock.
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
Success Factors
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use a delivery board system.
- Friendly communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Experience with POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
Essential Job Skills
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure).
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Prior Experience
- 2‑3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.
Store Driver – Role Overview
The Store Driver delivers parts to commercial customers, assists with inventory processes, and maintains store cleanliness. The position requires fleet safety certification.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely deliver parts to customers as required.
- Pick and stage parts for customer orders.
- Pick up returns and cores.
- Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers.
- Collect daily credit accounts.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot.
- General stocking, including truck stocking and back‑stock.
Success Factors
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use a delivery board system.
- Friendly communication and strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands
The employee will predominantly be walking or standing. They must be able to handle, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment includes indoor storage areas and occasionally outdoor exposure to various weather conditions during tasks such as battery and wiper blade installation. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. Noise is usually moderate.
Compensation Range
15.95 USD PER HOUR - 16.95 USD PER HOUR
