McKesson, a Fortune 10 company, is seeking an Indirect Tax Manager - Sales and Use Tax Audits to lead state and local tax audits and defend tax positions. The role requires analytical rigor, data-driven decision making, and collaboration with tax, accounting, IT and operations.

The successful candidate will investigate tax authority challenges, develop strategies, and guide audit responses across multiple jurisdictions, reporting to the Director of Indirect Tax - Sales and Use Tax Audits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience leading sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and business license tax audits.
• Experience in a multi-state environment; distribution or healthcare industry a plus.
• Strong technical background in indirect tax audit techniques and resolution.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support and manage state and local tax audits by evaluating information requests and developing fact-based defense strategies.
• Conduct transaction-level analyses across large datasets to identify patterns and audit opportunities.
• Investigate taxability determinations, exemptions, sourcing decisions, and product classifications to support audit responses.
• Prepare comprehensive audit responses with transaction detail, exemptions, data reconciliations, and research.
• Perform reconciliations and analyze large volumes of data to substantiate tax positions and audit exposures.
• Develop well-supported tax positions and memoranda addressing complex indirect tax issues.
