Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an Outside Sales Assistant to support the sales team in selling building products to business and industrial customers. You will compile prospect lists, accompany the outside Sales Representative, demonstrate products, and help close orders with timely delivery estimates.

Responsibilities include entering customer data, handling inquiries, attending trade shows, and maintaining accurate sales records while providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related selling experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior building materials industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compile lists of prospective customers for sales leads; based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Regularly travel throughout assigned territory with outside Sales Representative to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers on sales floor or by phone.
  • Display or demonstrate product, using samples or catalog, and emphasize salable features.
  • Quote prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimate date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and keep expense accounts.
  • Track stock levels.
  • Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries.
  • Attend trade shows.

PURPOSE

Assists Outside Sales team in selling building products and services to business and industrial establishments or individuals at sales office, store, showroom, or customer's place of business by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Regularly travels throughout assigned territory with outside Sales Representative to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talks with customers on sales floor or by phone.
