Job summary

AVE-PLP, LLC is seeking a Sales Representative I to build and maintain customer relationships across a regional footprint. The role focuses on achieving sales and margin targets while coordinating with cross-functional teams to support customers and opportunities in the ag equipment market.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of equipment sales experience, strong communication skills, and a willingness to travel. A background in agricultural or turf equipment is a helpful plus.

Qualifications

General Purpose:

The Sales Representative I is responsible for building and maintaining positive customer relationships to strengthen customer loyalty and dealer reputation. Customer engagement, achieving sales and margin targets, along with coordinating cross-functional teamwork to support customers will be a must. This is a regional role with the opportunity to work with customers regardless of the location they conduct parts and service business. The Sales Representative I Reports to the Region Sales Manager.

  • Achieve targeted and agreed upon sales goal (volume and margin)
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships – to strengthen customer loyalty and dealer reputation.
  • Continually improve personal selling capabilities – to respond to customer needs in a more effective manner.
  • Actively identifies, seeks, and obtains new prospects.
  • Review and implement technology solutions that create immediate and long-term results.
  • Share information, solutions, and ideas that challenge the customer’s thinking leveraging ROI, productivity, and efficiency data.
  • Effectively follows and supports AVE-PLP's sales process, including follow-up and timely and accurate completion of all paperwork and used equipment listing pictures and information.
  • Maintain a regional customer list and ensure scheduled and consistent customer contacts leveraging the HUB.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of used equipment values, effectively describe equipment condition, and share ownership to ensure a competitive and profitable future sale for both salespeople and the company at a competitive price.
  • Coordinate, engage, and communicate with Store Managers, Parts, and Service to support customer needs.
  • Communicate with Product Innovation and Product Support to deliver equipment and technology performance and optimization data.
  • Plan and document customer interactions and meetings leveraging the HUB.
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of AVE - PLP’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Strong knowledge of used equipment values and ability to evaluate properly for trading purposes.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow Dealer Selling Process.
  • Knowledge of John Deere and competitive products, knowledge of agricultural and turf equipment, and knowledge of farming and operational practices.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Knowledge of current financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports.
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and peers.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.
Experience
  • One year of equipment sales experience is preferred.
  • Experience in an agriculture dealership is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.
  • Certified Crop Advisor certification is preferred.
Working Environment
  • Travel to customer locations, meetings, and other store locations on a regular basis is necessary.
  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold); walking on uneven terrain; occasional exposure to insects.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including cold weather gear, eye protection, gloves, and provided uniform.
  • A clean and safety-conscientious work environment is required.
  • Work may involve long hours and overtime during holidays, weekends, and evenings.
  • May be required to rotate on-call responsibilities.
Physical Activities
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, walk on unpaved terrain, talk, reach with arms and hands, have good manual dexterity, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, handle or feel, hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Moderate physical activity required by moving and positioning objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
