Job summary

Mercedes-Benz of San Francisco is looking for a Sales Porter to support the sales team in selling and delivering cars in a fast-paced showroom. The role includes organizing the showroom and lots, stocking new and used vehicles, and handling all paperwork, inventory, and fuel/gas procedures.

You will prepare cars for delivery, assist detail and service departments, drive cars for cleaning and delivery, and help with shop cleanup.

Qualifications

• Prior experience or training with cars.
• Ability to pass background and drug screen prior to employment
• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training

Responsibilities

• Support the sales department in selling and delivering cars.
• Organize the vehicles in the showroom and storage lots; maintain cleanliness.
• Stock in of new and used vehicles; handle paperwork, inventorying, and gassing of cars.
• Prepare cars for delivery; assist detail department with sticker removal or detailing as needed.
• Drive new/used cars through car wash when sold; assist detail department on busy days.
• Deliver cars to customers and shuttle cars as needed.
• Maintain battery charging and logs; ensure batteries are charged.
• Maintain decals, buyer’s guides, and sale tags on cars.
• Create key tags for vehicles; keep lot neat and orderly.
• Assist with shop clean-up and deliveries; perform dealer trades as requested.
• Ensure doors, gates, and car wash are secured and alarms activated at day end.

Sales Porter - Essential Duties - Include, but not limited to, the following:

• Support the sales department in selling and delivering cars.
• Organize the vehicles in the showroom and storage lots/ maintain cleanliness.
• Stock in of new and used vehicles. This includes all the paperwork, inventorying, and gassing of cars.
• Get cars ready for delivery when sold - gas and assisting detail department with sticker removal (if detail is not here, detail car).
• Drive new/used cars through the car wash when the unit is sold assisting detail department on a busy day.
• Deliver cars to customers, if necessary,
• shuttle cars if needed.
• Maintain the battery charging process and battery charging log to properly ensure batteries are always charged.
• Maintain decals on used cars, buyer’s guides/not for sale tags on cars and current sale tags in cars.
• Make key tags for vehicles.
• Keep vehicle lot neat and orderly, move units as directed and in accordance with dealership display standards.
• Assist with shop clean-up and deliveries when needed.
• Perform new car dealer trades as requested.
• Will help clean and sanitize dealership as needed to ensure the health and safety of everyone.
• Directly report any damage to the supervising manager in a clear and timely fashion.
• Tag and receive new vehicles from factory.
• Help and attend to tow trucks dropping off cars after service hours.
• Perform other duties given by Supervisor and managers as needed.
• End of the day you must be able to ensure doors and gates and car wash are secured and locked, must activate security alarms in both buildings, and no visitors are parked after hours around the perimeter.

Sales Porter – Qualifications

• Prior experience or training with cars.
• Ability to pass background and drug screen prior to employment
• Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
