Job summary

Principal Financial Group is seeking a Sales Manager to lead and inspire a team of financial consultants on our Principal Connection team in a call center environment, delivering exceptional customer experiences and guiding product solutions.

You will coach staff, use data to inform decisions, and drive sales performance while upholding integrity and regulatory standards. Requires a bachelor's degree, 8+ years in sales/service, FINRA registrations, and professional designations encouraged.

What You'll Do

We're looking for a Sales Manager to lead and inspire a team of financial consultants on our Principal Connection team. In this role, you'll lead a team to ensure exceptional customer experiences and delivery of appropriate Principal products and services in a call center environment.

Lead and handle the day to day responsibilities of a team with the priority of maintaining and strengthening the team based on strong culture, flexibility, nimbleness and results/outcome based mentality within a highly regulated environment

Use a strategic lense to leverage data to inform business decisions and priorities

Responsible for sales performance and coaching of financial consultants to identify appropriate financial solutions.

Who You Are

Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and 8+ years of experience on a sales or service team marketing products and services

FINRA Series 7, FINRA Series 63, or equivalent registrations required immediately upon employment

FINRA Series 65 or 66 Licenses or ability to obtain within 90 days required. Potential opportunity to obtain FINRA Series 24. Must meet firm standards for registration within applicable jurisdictions

Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation supported and encouraged for continued professional growth.

Strong ability to interpret, position, and market all approved products and services offered in our product suite.

Demonstrated analytical and financial planning expertise, with deep understanding of industry trends, competitor offerings, and business practices.

Proven ability to coach, develop, and motivate staff to achieve department and organizational objectives.

Skilled at setting clear direction, defining priorities, and aligning team performance with company strategies and goals.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain trusted partnerships across teams and business units.

Strong operational insight, supervisory judgment, and personal accountability.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Effective time management, organizational, and decision‑making skills.

Committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non‑sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non‑Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$104400 - $187200 / year

Salary Details

The following locations are examples of market‑specific salary ranges across different geographies.

Wichita, KS: $104,400 - $140,400 / year

Des Moines, IA: $110,200 - $148,200 / year

Charlotte, NC: $116,000 - $156,000 / year

Chicago/Minneapolis: $127,600 - $171,600 / year

Los Angeles/New York City: $139,200 - $187,200 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short‑term illness. Employees don't accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in‑office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You'll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
