Location: Remote within the U.S., with required travel to customer sites and quarterly visits to HQ in Davis, CA.
Overview:
Our client is a pioneering company dedicated to transforming water management through nature-based solutions that help control invasive aquatic species while promoting environmental sustainability. Reporting to the CEO and co-founder, the Sales Manager will drive sales and customer service for natural water treatment products. This role also covers future pipeline products such as an algaecide, herbicide, and crustacean control solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively sell to both new and existing customers while re-engaging past clients to drive adoption. Identify and pursue prospects in industrial, utility, and government markets. Lead product demonstrations and provide technical guidance to stakeholders.
- Build a strong customer base by reconnecting with past users and identifying new prospects. Engage with distributors, private sector buyers, and government entities to expand market reach. Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth product commercialization, including regulatory compliance and customer education. Develop strategic plans to penetrate private markets and support necessary regulatory adjustments for broader adoption.
New Products:
- Play a key role in the go-to-market strategy for the company’s pipeline products, including algaecide, herbicide, and crustacean control solutions. Collaborate with internal teams to refine sales strategies and establish early partnerships. Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities and develop sales tactics for product launches. Support marketing efforts by contributing to promotional campaigns and customer outreach initiatives.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners, and regulatory bodies. Provide ongoing support and training to ensure successful product adoption and long-term customer satisfaction. Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries, ensuring timely responses and issue resolution.
Sales Growth & Market Expansion:
- Identify new business opportunities and develop targeted sales strategies to expand the company’s presence in key markets. Track industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to refine sales approaches. Work closely with the leadership team to set sales targets and implement initiatives that drive revenue growth.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, biology, or engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in B2B technical sales, preferably in the chemical, environmental, or water treatment sectors.
- Proven ability to independently manage a sales pipeline and close deals with industrial, utility, and government customers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of water quality, invasive species, or environmental compliance is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in customer relationship management and consultative selling.
- Proficient in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach.
- Willingness to travel extensively (40%+), including occasional international travel.
- Comfortable working in aquatic environments and handling equipment.
