Role: The Sales Manager is responsible for proactively soliciting and managing group/catering related opportunities for groups up to 74 room nights on peak. Handles incoming requests, manages the Sales process which includes Site inspections and then turns over the opportunity to the Event Management Team. Actively upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive sales experience in hospitality or related industries preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Demonstrates exceptional telephone sales abilities, with a strong talent for engaging clients and closing business over the phone
  • Possesses advanced selling skills and a solid understanding of end - to - end sales processes
  • Strong operational knowledge to effectively align sales strategies with hotel capabilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of Marriott lodging products, brand standards, and cultural values
  • Proficient knowledge of current food and beverage trends, menu planning, and event-related culinary considerations
  • Deep understanding of contract development, negotiation, and associated legal implications
  • Excels in building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring long - term client loyalty
  • Skilled in making effective, timely decisions that support business objectives
  • Strong negotiation abilities that drive mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across internal and external stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Supports sales strategies and implements activities that drive market share, enhance guest satisfaction, and achieve financial targets
  • Proactively solicits and manages small group and catering opportunities to grow the hotel’s business pipeline
  • Maximizes revenue by upselling each business opportunity; consistently achieves individual and team sales goals
  • Responds promptly and professionally to incoming group sales leads to convert inquiries into confirmed bookings
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Builds and strengthens relationships with new and existing clients to secure future business
    • Participates in client engagement activities including sales calls, client entertainment, FAM trips, and trade shows
    • Conducts thorough and engaging site inspections that effectively showcase property features and benefits
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Operations, Catering, and Revenue Management, to ensure successful event execution
    • Partners with external stakeholders such as planners, travel partners, and corporate contacts to support long-term business growth
  • Other Duties
    • Interact with management, applicants, associates, and guests; operate standard office equipment; and perform additional tasks as needed to meet business objectives.
