Job summary

My Melrose in San Angelo, TX is seeking a friendly cashier who helps customers process purchases and answers questions. You will greet shoppers, ring up sales, and ensure the register drawer stays accurate while delivering warm, helpful service.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers on entry/exit.

• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change.
• Count money in cash drawers at shift start.
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and housekeeping.
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise.
• Participate in cycle counts.
• Assist customers in fitting rooms.
• Ask for manager if issues aren’t solved.
• Clean shelves, counters, tables, racks, fixtures, restrooms, stockrooms, and break room.

A Sales/Cashier is primarily responsible for helping customers with payment and packaging as they complete their purchases, but they are also often the first store staff that customers encounter. That makes it vitally important for cashiers to do more than just ring up – you also want to be knowledgeable about the store’s merchandise and cheerful when you encounter customer questions. That way, you help to improve their visit by making the store into a warm and welcoming place for them to shop. At Melrose we call this the great in-store customer experience.

Abilities

• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store.
• Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and accurately maintain all cash and media at the registers.
• Maintain orderly appearance of cash wrap.
• Receive payment by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Communicate the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers and ask them to sign up.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and general housekeeping when requested by management.
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise.
• Participate in preparation for cycle counts.
• Assist customers in the fitting rooms as needed.
• Answer customer questions and get a manager if answer doesn’t solve the issue.
• Clean shelves, counters, tables, racks, fixtures, employee restroom, stockroom, break room, sweep or mop when assigned.

Qualifications

Basic PC knowledge, familiarity with electronic equipment such as scanners, cash register, customer satisfaction-oriented, basic math knowledge, dependability in both attendance and cashier drawer management, a positive attitude that helps improve the customer experience, and the ability to work with a schedule that may be different from week to week.

Typical Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion, including, but not limited to: walking, sitting, crouching, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and eye-hand coordination. Requires long periods of standing and walking. Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
