Job summary

My Melrose in College Station is seeking a friendly Sales/Cashier to help customers complete purchases and enjoy a warm shopping experience.

You will greet shoppers, operate the cash register, handle cash and card payments, and explain the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers.

You will also assist with merchandising, stock replenishment, cycle counts, and keep shelves and back areas neat and welcoming for guests.

Qualifications

• Basic PC knowledge and familiarity with scanners and cash registers.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter or leave the store.
• Ring on registers accurately and manage cash.
• Maintain orderly cash wrap area.
• Process payments by cash, card, vouchers, or debits.
• Explain the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change owing to customers.
• Count money in cash drawers at shift start to ensure accuracy.
• Assist in merchandising, display maintenance, and stock replenishment.
• Participate in preparation for cycle counts.
• Assist customers in the fitting rooms as needed.
• Answer customer questions and involve a manager if needed.
• Clean shelves, counters, tables, fixtures, and keep the store tidy.

If so, you could make an ideal cashier!A Sales/Cashier is primarily responsible for helping customers with payment and packaging as they complete their purchases, but they are also often the first store staff that customers encounter. That makes it vitally important for cashiers to do more than just ring up – you also want to be knowledgeable about the store’s merchandise and cheerful when you encounter customer questions. That way, you help to improve their visit by making the store into a warm and welcoming place for them to shop. At Melrose we call this the great in-store customer experience.

Abilities

• Greet customers when entering or leaving the store.
• Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and accurately maintain all cash and media at the registers.
• Maintain orderly appearance of cash wrap.
• Receive payment by cash, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
• Communicate the MStyle Loyalty Program to customers and ask them to sign up.
• Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
• Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and general housekeeping when requested by management.
• Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise.
• Participate in preparation for cycle counts.
• Assist customers in the fitting rooms as needed.
• Answer customer questions and get a manager if answer doesn’t solve the issue.
• Clean shelves, counters, tables, racks, fixtures, employee restroom, stockroom, break room, sweep or mop when assigned.

QualificationsQualifications

Basic PC knowledge, Familiarity with electronic equipment such as scanners, cash register, customer satisfaction-oriented, basic math knowledge, dependability in both attendance and cashier drawer management, a positive attitude that helps improve the customer experience, and the ability to work with a schedule that may be different from week to week.
