Job Summary
Provide exceptional customer service by assisting with product selection, color matching, paint tinting and order processing. Support management and co‑workers in day‑to‑day operation of the store. Maintain store appearance and organization, bringing a pleasant manner to the job and contributing to a professional and safe workplace. Full physical mobility is required for this position.
Job Responsibilities
Customer Service, Operations, and Logistics
- Greet customers as they enter the store and assist them in identifying their paint product needs.
- Answer customer inquiries in person and by phone, resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide product suggestions based on customer and project requirements, preferences, and budget.
- Mix and tint paint using formulated colors and the color matching system according to company specifications. Record data in customer color history files.
- Educate customers on paint application techniques and product usage.
- Operate point‑of‑sale (POS) system, process sales, product, inventory & pricing inquiries.
- Keep the store organized, clean, tidy, and inviting.
- Cooperate with team members to achieve service and sales goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated on product knowledge, industry trends, and store promotions.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, safety guidelines and inventory management protocols.
- Secure and protect company and corporate inventory and assets (product, equipment, cash/funds).
- Inventory control: aisle, slotting and routine cycle counts.
- Shipping and receiving: unload and put away freight, stock shelves, rotate inventory, organize merchandise, prepare shipments as directed.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks; load and unload vehicles in a safe manner.
- Adhere to workplace safety and health rules. Promptly report injuries, hazards, incidents or concerns.
- Proper use and maintenance of company–provided PPE (personal protective equipment).
- For delivery driver duties, safely and lawfully operate the company vehicle to optimize travel time and distance. Ensure load is properly secured and complete vehicle pre‑trip check.
- All other store duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Requirements and Essential Functions
- Attendance: Timely & predictable attendance is a requirement for all company employees.
- Scheduling & reporting must remain flexible & available to meet the needs of the business & customers.
- Through on‑the‑job training and presence, develop practical & functional knowledge of core product lines.
- Training: Complete all required job training, including onboarding, associate training, HMIS/DOT, safe driving, SERVICE 6, forklift certification (if required), workplace fairness/code of conduct and safety programs.
- Driving: Ability to legally drive for business. Maintain an MVR consistent with company safe‑driving guidelines and possess an active, unrestricted driver’s license in the state of residence.
- Basic oral communication: Fully conversant (speaking, listening) in English.
- Reading and writing skills: Basic skill in reading and writing documents in standard English.
- Mathematical skills: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Understand measures and weights. Compute money and make accurate change.
- Computer/POS: Basic skills required. Familiar with internet navigation, emails, online training, Windows/Office, POS, etc.
- High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Full‑physical mobility required: standing, walking, lifting and carrying paint containers and related items.
- Lifting: floor‑to‑waist (1–20 lbs. frequently, 25–65 lbs. occasionally); waist‑to‑shoulder (1–15 lbs. occasionally); shoulder‑overhead (1–15 lbs. seldom); out‑of‑safe zone or heavy items (>30 lbs.) require ladders or lift assistance equipment.
- Carrying: up to 70 ft. distance. Rarely 15–75 lbs. for retrieving product or delivering customer items.
- Walking: Constant; push/pull 1–100 lbs. distance (occasionally) using hand trucks or pallet jacks.
- Climbing, balance and twisting: Ladder (max 6 ft.) used to retrieve or stock product; twisting at neck and waist frequent to reach or move items.
- Operating equipment: Hand‑tools, foot pedals on forklifts, vibrating machinery. Repetitive tasks such as mixing, tinting and entering data frequent.
- Maintain safe lifting and movement practices; use provided PPE.
