Fastenal's Kansas City branch is seeking a Part-time Sales Associate to help grow our B2B customer base through consultative sales and inventory management solutions. The role supports branch operations, builds relationships, and drives value for customers while maintaining flexible hours.

This position requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work a 10-28 hour week; training provided through Fastenal's School of Business and ongoing development.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Possess a valid driver's license and meet driving requirements to operate a company vehicle
• Pursuing or have a degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Management or related field OR have customer service or industry related work experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Strong aptitude for sales and a customer service orientation
• Highly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented
• Strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
• Strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills
• Demonstrate core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
• Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs
• Pass the required drug screen (US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

OVERVIEW

This position is for our branch located at 1306 Adams St, Kansas City, KS 66103.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting business to business (B2B) sales and customer service activities
• Providing value to customer through a consultative sales approach
• Developing new and growing existing relationships from leads, referrals and prospecting
• Coordinating resources to respond to customer service needs
• Performing local sales calls driving a company vehicle to customer sites
• Performing other duties as needed to ensure branch success

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

• 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work
• Possess a current full valid driver's license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed
• Possess or are working towards a degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Management or related field of study OR have customer service or industry related work experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Exhibit strong aptitude for sales and a desire to sell
• Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
