Job summary

Goodwill Industries of the Valleys is seeking a store associate to deliver friendly customer service, support cash register operations, and maintain a welcoming, orderly sales floor in Verona, VA. The role emphasizes security of assets, accurate donation handling, cashiering, and merchandising tasks.

Under supervision of the Store Manager, you will greet customers, bag or wrap merchandise, assist donors, stock shelves, and help keep the front of store neat.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and assist customers on the sales floor.
• Operate cash register and process sales transactions accurately.

• Display merchandise and rotate inventory.
• Clean the cash wrap area, counters and front of store.

Mission Contribution:

To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of the retail store through security of corporate assets, customer relations, sale of donated goods, accurate cash register operations in order to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Store Manager or designee, is responsible for customer service, cash register sales, facility security and maintenance, greeting and assisting customers, bagging/wrapping merchandise, displaying merchandise, cleaning cash wrap area, counters, and front of store, hanging, stocking shelves and rotating merchandise

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
• Ability to perform basic math skills.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and donors.
• Ability to work within a team situation.
• Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
• Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Prior experience in a retail environment preferred.
• 6 months cash register experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

• Having a cell phone is not required for employment, but access to applications and/or resources may be limited unless a cell phone is used for authentication.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.

• Able to stand, bend and reach.
• Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to forty (40) pounds with no support regularly. Over forty (40) pounds request for additional team member assistance as needed.
• Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion. Manual dexterity is required.
