Job summary

Scheels All Sports, Inc. in West Des Moines, IA is looking for a part-time Retail Sales Associate to greet customers, assess needs, and recommend products with the goal of delivering a WOW customer experience.

You will promote the Scheels Visa and contribute to personal sales growth while maintaining store presentation. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 months of sales experience, with a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be able to sit, stand, lift up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers on the sales floor with courtesy and a smile.
• Engage with customers, identify needs, and promote products and Scheels Visa.
• Grow personal sales by meeting goals and following sales standards.
• Create a positive end-user experience based on purchased products.
• Maintain visual merchandising and assist with freight and inventory restocking.
• Demonstrate product usage and retrieve items from heights over 6 ft.
• Attend product training and store meetings; assist in training new associates.
• Operate a PC and handheld inventory scanner (AS400, MS Office, Google Docs).
• Support leadership with additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Greet all customers on the sales floor with genuine courtesy and a smile, to ensure they feel welcomed the moment they enter your shop
• Deliver exceptional customer service by seeking out and engaging with customers, going through the steps of the sale to determine their needs, recommending appropriate products, and promoting the Scheels Visa Credit Card
• Grow personal sales by consistently hitting set goals and following Scheels' professional salesmanship standards and the steps of the sale to provide an above-and-beyond customer experience
• Create a positive end-user experience based on the products the customer is purchasing
• Maintain a high standard of visual merchandising and support the team with freight processing and inventory restocking
• Ability to demonstrate product usage within their shop and retrieve product from heights of greater than 6 ft
• Attend all required Scheels product training and all store meetings
• Assist in the training of new associates in the areas of the store's expertise
• Ability to navigate a personal computer and a handheld inventory computer/scanner. Programs include: Microsoft Office, Google Email / Docs, and AS400
• Assist in all other assigned duties by the leadership team

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 months of sales experience

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Scheels cares about the health and safety of our Associates. Associates are expected to follow all safety procedures and perform their job duties in a fashion that minimizes the risk of injury.

Schedule:

Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 5p.m. and 9p.m., Monday through Friday, 9:30a.m.-9:00p.m. Saturday, and 10:30a.m. and 6 p.m., Sunday. Schedule may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays, must be available minimum of two weekends a month. Average hours per week is 20-25 hours.

Salary Range:

$16- 22/ Hour
