As a Sales Assistant, you will coordinate with Sales, Sales Marketing, Ad Operations, and other internal stakeholders to ensure campaigns are planned, executed, and delivered with high client service.

Qualifications

  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, agencies, and internal teams.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and departmental projects as needed.
  • Assist with proposal preparation, RFP responses, sales materials, audience data, reporting, and other sales and sponsorship support responsibilities as assigned.

Job description

New York Public Radio is seeking a Sales Assistant to join the Sponsorship team, reporting to the Accounts Operations Manager. This role supports advertising campaigns across radio, podcasts, streaming, and digital platforms and provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within the business side of media and public radio.

Sales Assistants play a key role in supporting revenue-generating activities throughout the sponsorship sales cycle. Working closely with Sales, Sales Marketing, Ad Operations, and other internal stakeholders, this role helps ensure campaigns are planned, executed, and delivered successfully while maintaining a high level of client service.

This role is suited for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and process-driven, and interested in building a career in media planning, sales operations, advertising strategy, or digital media.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support revenue-generating activities across the sponsorship sales cycle
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Assist with coordinating tasks, tracking deliverables, and managing timelines across multiple campaigns and initiatives
  • Identify and elevate issues, missing information, or process bottlenecks that could impact campaign success
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, agencies, and internal teams

Proposal & Planning Support Responsibilities
  • Conduct checks for inventory availability
  • Support proposal development, media plan preparation, and sponsorship recommendations
  • Assist with client RFP responses and proposal documentation
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of professional office, administrative, client service, or coordination experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, responsive, and solutions-oriented approach
  • Ability to communicate professionally and confidently with clients and colleagues
  • High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Comfortable learning new systems and adapting to evolving workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Resourceful, proactive, and calm under pressure when managing shifting priorities
  • Interest in media, advertising, podcasts, radio, digital platforms, or client service/account coordination careers preferred

Additional Information

This is a full-time non-exempt role with a rate of $34.28/hour, ($62,400 annualized at 35 hours per week) plus a full benefits package. Compensation offered within this range is determined by skills, experience and organizational pay equity. New York Public Radio offers excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation, and sick time as well as inclusive family leave.

This individual is expected to work onsite at WNYC's New York City office at least 2 days a week.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between New York Public Radio and SAG-AFTRA.
