Job summary

Food City in Independence, VA is seeking an on-site salad bar associate to provide friendly customer service and maintain the salad bar area. Responsibilities include restocking, inventory, and assisting the bakery/deli manager with display and quality control.

The role emphasizes food safety, cleanliness, and teamwork to ensure a positive guest experience and smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• Front-line customer service experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to keep station clean and organized during shifts.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and courteous service to customers.

• Assist bakery/deli manager with ordering, receiving and displaying salad bar items.
• Rotate merchandise during stocking to maintain freshness.
• Set up and maintain the salad bar as directed.
• Wash and prepare products for the salad bar.
• Take inventory as directed by the bakery/deli manager.
• Assist training of salad bar associates as directed.
• Maintain quality and freshness of salad bar products.
• Enforce the company food safety program.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide efficient and courteous service to all customers.
• Keep work station and area around work station neat and clean.
• Assist bakery/deli manager in ordering, receiving and displaying all salad bar product.
• Rotate all merchandise when stocking to ensure freshness and quality.
• Set up and maintain salad bar as directed by bakery/deli manager.
• Wash and prepare product for the salad bar.
• Take inventory of product as directed by the bakery/deli manager.
• Assist and coordinate training of salad bar associates as directed by the bakery/deli manager.
• Maintain quality and freshness of all salad bar products.
• Bail boxes.
• Enforce and maintain the company food safety program.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Food Service experience a plus, but not required
• Ability to meet standard Physical, Mental, and Visual demands
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals on a daily basis
• Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies
