  • Support AQ forecasting, portfolio reviews, and governance reporting.
  • Provide training on regulatory and policy changes as needed.
  • Prepare for Shared National Credit Reviews and audits.
  • Review and update guidance and policies on distressed debt.

Position Summary

This job is responsible for overall portfolio or product set performance and asset quality and includes credit approval authority. Key responsibilities include focusing on but not limited to credit, market, and reputational risk; as well as adherence to credit risk policies and external/internal reporting, including but not limited to Top of House (TOH) and Line of Business (LOB) specific reports or regulatory related reporting. Job expectations include having detailed knowledge of regulatory issues and providing expertise on highly complex transactions to business/support partners. The Risk Management position provides independent credit risk oversight and strategic guidance for criticized and distressed assets managed by the SAG Enterprise Credit workout teams across multiple lines of business. The role requires sound judgment, strong technical credit expertise, and the ability to make timely decisions in complex and evolving situations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide independent risk oversight, challenge, and credit decisioning for a portfolio of complex criticized and distressed exposures.
  • Evaluate credit requests and make timely decisions consistent with delegated authority, credit risk policy, the Risk Framework, and Risk Appetite, that can be high-volume at times.
  • Assess risk ratings, accrual status, reserves, charge-offs, collateral support, repayment capacity, and recovery expectations.
  • Partner with SAG Executives and workout teams in evaluating EMS (Exposure Management Strategy), restructuring, repayment, and exit strategies while maintaining independent risk judgment.
  • Evaluate the Asset Quality implications of credit decisions and communicate material changes to senior management and key stakeholders including CRISA, LOB Risk and Finance.
  • Interact with and work cooperatively with Commercial Accounting Policy on accounting and regulatory interpretations on the Bank’s criticized portfolio.
  • Heavily involved in AQ forecasting, portfolio reviews, and quarter end governance, data validation, and senior management reporting.
  • Provide training on regulatory and policy changes on an as needed basis.
  • Work with SAG Executives and workout officers to prepare for and participate in Shared National Credit Reviews, Audit, and Credit Review examinations.
  • Review and enhance guidance documents, operating practices, and Problem Loan policy provisions applicable to the management of criticized and distressed debt.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and make decisions regarding complex commercial credit situations
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit risk policy, risk-rating principles, collateral, cash flow, and repayment analysis.
  • Solid underwriting experience and understanding of bank’s credit agreements
  • Familiarity with various regulatory agencies
  • Ability to manage a high-volume portfolio, prioritize competing matters, and make timely decisions using the best available information.
  • Strong leadership skills necessary to navigate across teams, implement change and resolve issues/conflicts in a balanced and professional manner
  • Strong executive-level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
