Job summary

Durham School Services Texas seeks a Safety Training Specialist to conduct and document behind-the-wheel training for drivers, assist in driver recruitment, and lead safety meetings. You will review records, coordinate with supervisors, and help implement safety programs while maintaining high ethical standards and safeguarding passengers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Commercial driving experience required.
• Knowledge of state regulations related to student transportation.
• Valid vehicle class license, current medical and school bus certificate.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to interface with diverse people.
• Proficient in basic math and computer skills.
• Multi-tasking and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document behind-the-wheel training for drivers.
• Assist in driver recruitment.
• Lead monthly safety meetings.
• Conduct and document driver evaluations.
• Support safety awareness and company safety programs.
• Review state driver records for violations and take corrective action.
• Notify drivers about license/certificate expirations.
• Review safety records and perform admin safety duties.
• Investigate and report vehicle accidents and injuries.
• Maintain high ethical standards and report concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document required behind-the-wheel training for drivers.
• Assist in driver recruitment process.
• Conduct and/or participate in monthly safety meetings.
• Conduct and document semi-annual behind-the-wheel driver evaluations.
• Participate in the development and administration of customer safety awareness programs, and company-sponsored safety programs.
• Review driver records from the state for violations and take appropriate corrective action.
• Coordinate with safety and training supervisor to notify drivers of upcoming licenses and/or certificate expiration dates.
• Review VCRs and perform administrative safety duties as needed.
• Investigate, report and record vehicle accidents, work-related injuries and incidents.
• Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Ability to interface and communicate with all types of individuals..
• Must be knowledgeable of adult training techniques.
• Computer literacy, preferably in word processing and spreadsheets, excellent interpersonal skills, well developed written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills,
• Multi-tasking and time and priority management skills to balance conflicting demands related to customer care and routing.
