Job summary

SRM Concrete (Smyrna Ready Mix) is seeking a Safety Technician to champion our safety culture across regional and nationwide networks. You will conduct site inspections, lead investigations, and support workers’ compensation processes while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree preferred and about five years in safety or management roles, with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills and ability to travel to plants,

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred for this role.
  • Five years of experience in safety or management strongly desired.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, assess safety risks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage all motor vehicle accident investigations and reporting within your assigned region.
  • Oversee and manage worker’s compensation claims, partnering with team members and management to support affected employees.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain inspection policies, procedures, and schedules for routine safety audits.
  • Create and execute short-term and long-term strategies to foster a proactive safety culture across the organization.
  • Schedule and deliver engaging safety training sessions on emergency procedures, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor adherence to safety protocols, document findings, and provide comprehensive reports to leadership.
  • Collaborate with regional and national teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support SRM Concrete’s mission.

Your Mission & Key Responsibilities

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to inspire and educate team members at all levels.
  • Proficiency with technology and equipment used in environmental and safety inspections.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; five years of experience in a safety or management role strongly desired.
  • High level of integrity, commitment, and passion for safety excellence.
  • Capable of conducting thorough site inspections and carrying necessary equipment.
  • Comfortable with prolonged periods of desk work and computer use.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Physically able to visit and work at concrete plants, mines, and construction sites on a routine basis.
