Job summary

Performance Contracting Group in Chicago seeks a Safety Technician for the Chicago 573 operations based in Zurich, IL. This safety-sensitive role promotes safe work practices and supports the Accident Prevention Plan on jobsites and at the branch.

You will inspect sites, train staff, investigate injuries, and ensure compliance with client requirements. OSHA 30 and 2–4 years in construction safety are required; local Chicago metro preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of construction safety experience
• OSHA 30 certification
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Strong verbal communication with stakeholders
• Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds

Responsibilities

• Promote safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury-free culture on sites
• Assist with administration of Accident Prevention Plan and procedures
• Represent PCI and participate in Safety Committee activities
• Identify, correct, and mitigate safety hazards
• Ensure safety reports and documentation are submitted on time
• Coach employees to comply with safety plans and procedures
• Conduct site inspections and audits to evaluate compliance
• Investigate injuries and illnesses and document findings
• Evaluate and approve safety equipment and PPE

Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking a Safety Technician for its Chicago 573 operations based in Zurich, IL.

• Promote safe work practices and behaviors to instill an injury-free culture among all site and field personnel
• Assist with the administration of PCI’s Accident Prevention Plan, policies, and procedures, on jobsites and at the branch through utilization of safety resources such as training and mitigation of unsafe practices.
• Represent PCI and participate in Safety Committee activities
• Assist in identifying, correcting, and mitigating routine and non-routine safety and health hazards
• Ensure company and client safety reports and documentation are submitted on time and in accordance with client requirements and expectations
• Coach employees to achieve compliance with accident prevention plans, policies, and procedures
• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate potential safety health hazards
• Conduct job site inspections and periodic audits to establish and evaluate the level of compliance
• Responsible for investigation and evaluation of injuries and illnesses for the project site
• Convey a professional and positive attitude as the safety representative of PCI
• Evaluate and approve safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)

Pay range: $30-37 per hour, depending on experience.

This position is safety-sensitive.

Basic Requirements

• Must have at least 2-4 years’ experience in construction safety
• Must have OSHA 30 certification
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Displays strong verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively convey information to employees, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders
• Able to withstand prolonged periods standing and working outside
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds independently

Preferred Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
• Degree in Occupational or Environmental Health and Safety is a plus
• Previous experience conducting safety training is a plus
• Local to Chicago metro area
