Job summary

The ASR Group is seeking a Safety Supervisor to support safety and health processes within the plant. This role assists the Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining a safety management system and contributing to injury reduction and continuous improvement across the site.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Safety or related field; an Associate degree is preferred with 4+ years of relevant experience. Travel to other locations may be required as part of committee work and assessments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Associate degree in a related field preferred; candidates with four or more years of relevant professional experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary backup for the EHS Manager in their absence.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with the requirements of federal & state OSHA requirements and applicable consensus standards.
  • Provide direct support in the developing and implementing facility policies and practices as part of our efforts to achieve ISO 45001 certification
  • Provide relevant content and subject matter expertise to support: Creation and delivery of safety related training, Effective implementation of compliance and safety management system programs, Facility assessments for the reduction of hazards and prevention of accidents
  • Assist in creating and provide support as requested to achieve annualplant safety goals.
  • Work in a team environment to continuously improve performance related injury/illness prevention, compliance assurance, safety auditing, incident investigation, and employee training.
  • Work with the management team and employees to improve a culture of safety awareness and responsibility across the organization.
  • Assist withemployee engagement efforts including oversight of safety committees and the company’s behavioral assessment process.
  • Serve as an active member of the Corporate Safety Network Committee. Occasionally travel to other company locations as a member of an assessment team or to serve as a subject matter expert regarding resolution of a particular issue.
  • Assist with workers compensation management and the return-to-work program.

OVERVIEW

The Safety Supervisor is responsiblefor supportingthe safety and health processes within the local organization. This individualwill assist the safety manager inleadingthe safety and health efforts within the plant, which includes the implementation and maintenance of a safety management system. The position of SafetySpecialistreports directly to theSafetyManager and has the responsibility toassist inthe implementation and evaluation of critical safety processes, programs, and procedures to achieve goals, objectives, and continuous improvement related to compliance as well as injury reduction.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university or college.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • 2 to 4years of occupational safety and health experience in industrial operations.
  • Knowledgeableof federal, state, and local regulations as well as relevant consensus standards (e.g., ANSI, NFPA).
  • Knowledge ofBehavioral Safety Auditingtechniques.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysiseducation or experience.
  • Ability to coach and train employees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (to include but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organization skills,includingattention to detail, ability to multi-task, and prioritize projects.
  • Interpersonal skills withtheability toresolve conflict andreach agreement with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
