Job summary

LJB Inc. in Charlotte, NC invites civil/structural engineering students for Spring or Summer 2027 co-op/internships. Trainees work with experienced engineers on real projects ranging from design to site visits.

You will assist with structural design, analysis, documentation, and CAD/BIM drawings under supervision. Applicants must be enrolled in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering and be entering junior or senior year.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering program at an accredited university.
• Must be entering junior or senior year of undergraduate studies at the time of the co‑op.
• Prior academic or internship experience with structural design projects preferred.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering tasks related to structural design, analysis, and documentation.
• Perform routine assignments under close supervision, following established standards, procedures, and drawings.
• Gain exposure to both office-based and field-based work, including design planning, site visits, and construction processes.
• Support project teams with technical calculations, reports, and documentation.
• Contribute to CAD and/or BIM drawings and sketches under the guidance of senior engineers.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING CO-OP ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Education:

• Required: Currently enrolled in a Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering program at an accredited university.
• Required: Must be entering junior or senior year of undergraduate studies at the time of the co-op.

Qualifications:

• Prior academic or internship experience with structural design projects preferred.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.

Physical:

• Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
• Capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
