Job summary

The City and County of Denver is hiring a Safety Specialist II within the Office of Safety & Industrial Hygiene. You will implement the DOTI Safety Management System, identify hazards, and develop SOPs and JHAs to protect the workforce.

Responsibilities include investigations, training delivery, site inspections, and contractor oversight, with a focus on continuous safety improvements. Hybrid work arrangement with on-site and field duties in Colorado.

Qualifications

• Focus on occupational safety programs, SOP development, and hazard controls.
• Experience interpreting safety standards and conducting JHA (Job Hazard Analysis).
• Ability to develop and deliver safety training using in-person and virtual formats.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement DOTI Safety Management System policies and procedures.
• Identify hazards and implement control measures to minimize injuries.
• Develop SOPs and perform Job Hazard Analyses for equipment and work tasks.
• Investigate accidents, document findings, and prepare technical reports for authorities.
• Plan and conduct accident prevention and safety training for targeted hazards.
• Review sites to ensure adherence to safety standards by staff and contractors.
• Collaborate to monitor safety performance and pursue continuous improvement.
• Analyze health and safety data to identify trends; support ergonomic assessments.
• Provide safety oversight for contractor activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist Emergency Management Specialist during emergencies and coordinate response.
