Job summary

DEPCOM Power is hiring Safety Specialists for construction-site roles across the U.S. with extensive travel (up to 95%). The role focuses on fostering an EH&S culture, training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and internal standards.

You will engage with employees, contractors, and field teams to uphold safety. Ideal candidates have a safety degree or CHST/OSHA 500 and a proven track record on construction sites; EMT/NREMT is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety (EHS) or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years in construction safety as a titled safety professional.
  • CHST designation with at least 4 years in construction safety.
  • Valid driver's license and prior site safety experience.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate safety and health training for employees and contractors.
  • Plan and implement safety policies complying with OSHA, DOT, and state laws.
  • Maintain awareness of Koch/DEPCOM EHS standards and environment.
  • Assist with incident investigations and root-cause analyses.
  • Conduct field walk-through inspections to identify hazards.
  • Assist with risk assessments, JHA reviews, and PPE assessments.
  • Provide care for onsite injuries within standard of care.

These positions will be located at a construction site in Aylett, VA and Charlotte Court House, VA.
What You Will Do
  • Assist PSM with facilitating Safety & Health training for employees, contractors, etc., as required and needed.
  • Support the planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Be knowledgeable and current on all internal Koch/DEPCOM EHS Standards and relevant state and federal environmental law.
  • Aid incident investigations, root cause analysis, and determining corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence and makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
  • Foster an EHS environment of collaboration and active participation with all employees.
  • Conduct walk-through inspections of field job sites to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe acts performed by employees.
  • Assist with managing site risks including facilitating risk assessments, job safety analyses, JHA reviews and PPE assessments.
  • Provide appropriate care and support for onsite injuries within standard of care.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • One of the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in safety (EHS)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on a project in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional and completion of the OSHA 500 Training course.
  • CHST designation with a minimum of 4 years in a construction safety role as a titled safety professional.
  • Prior experience with site safety.
  • Valid driver's license.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • State Certification for EMT or Paramedic or National EMT certification, (NREMT)

For this role, we anticipate paying $35 - $45 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
