Job summary

347 Group, Inc. in the Los Angeles County area is seeking a Safety Professional to oversee day-to-day field safety for civil underground construction projects.

The Site Safety Compliance Specialist acts as the point of contact for safety with owners and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety programs and incident prevention. Ideal candidate has 3-4 years of underground construction safety experience, OSHA 30, and a degree in Safety or related field.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 3–4 years safety experience in underground construction.
• OSHA 30 required.
• Additional safety certifications a plus.
• Valid Driver License with clean record (Class A CDL preferred).
• Knowledge of federal, state, local and company regulations.
• Experience in high voltage utility construction a plus.
• Knowledge of Fall Protection, MUTCD, and DOT regulations.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Director in risk management, identifying potential hazards, recommending corrective action, employee safety training and emergency response procedures, and proper use of PPE.
• Administer, direct and manage compliance with the company safety program and incident prevention efforts.
• Perform and document job site inspections and audits.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance regarding safety and health requirements.
• Manage site safety documentation.
• Participate in safety pre-construction meetings.
• Facilitate mass safety meetings and weekly tailgate safety meetings.
• Compile materials for safety meetings, prepare agendas, and record meeting minutes.
• Effectively manage problem prevention strategies to limit reactionary practices.
• Heavy traveling throughout the Los Angeles County area.
• Analyze all loss, determine causes of injuries, develop trend analysis and statistical summary of accidents and injuries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Requires the experience, knowledge, and skills in safety to administer, direct and manage compliance with the company safety program and incident prevention efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
• 3-4 years of safety experience or field related experience in the underground construction industry.
• OSHA 30 required.
• Additional safety certifications a plus.
• Valid Driver License with a clean record (Class A CDL preferred).
• Thorough understanding and the ability to enforce federal, state, local and company regulations.
• Experience in high voltage utility construction a plus.
• Knowledge of Fall Protection and MUTCD standards, and DOT regulations.
• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
• Ability to write clear and concise thoughts in a professional manner.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to submit and pass a pre-hire drug test.
