The Safety Specialist will work to enhance the capability in the development and implementation of fundamental safety programs. Fundamental safety programs include, but are not limited to: Confined Space Entry, Emergency Response, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Lock-Tag-Verify, Fall Protection, Line Break Equipment Opening, Incident Investigation, Mobile Equipment, Personal Protective Equipment, and Save My Life Permitting Program.
Georgia Pacific’s paper mill in Monticello, MS has been in operation since 1968, and employs approximately 450 employees. The Monticello mill has the capability to produce over 1,000,000 tons of containerboard each year! Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering OR Three (3) or more years in a safety role within an industrial/manufacturing facilityExperience and working knowledge of OSHA Compliance programs (29 CFR 1910, 1926)Experience with Hazard Identification and Risk AssessmentExperience using and applying Safety Management SystemsExperience developing regulatory compliance programs and training
Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certificationExperience in manufacturing, pulp and paper, or chemical facilityExperience with implementing MS Forms with Power Automate and Share Point IntegrationExperience in contractor safety management, and outage/turnaround safety coordination
