SAFETY SPECIALIST Department: Build It Direct Supervisor: Safety Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
  • Lead safety meetings to communicate hazards and reinforce site safety expectations.
  • Conduct site inspections and prepare timely reports, identifying and implementing corrective actions.
  • Assist in preconstruction planning to identify potential safety and environmental risks.
  • Develop, implement and improve site-safety plans.
  • Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective action.
  • Analyze incident reports and jobsite safety trends to develop and recommend improved safety procedures and loss prevention strategies.
  • Support emergency response planning, drills and incident preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Conduct new hire safety training and provide annual refresher training to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health/Safety or relevant onsite/managerial safety experience.
  • 1–5 years of experience as a Safety Specialist within a construction company; commercial or residential high-rise concrete construction experience preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory compliance laws with an emphasis on OSHA, as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Observation, communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence safe behavior.
  • Preferred experience with Procore and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES
  • OSHA Authorized 10- and 30-hour Construction Safety and Health Outreach Trainer (OSHA 500).
  • Current CSP, ASP, CHST, or other nationally recognized safety and health certifications preferred.
