Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction safety, occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Zero to five years of professional safety experience in construction or related area.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, organizational, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Safety Managers and Chief Risk Officer to support companywide and project-specific safety initiatives.
• Serve as corporate safety professional and own all safety functions.
• Conduct safety inspections on project sites to ensure compliance with standards and policies.
• Identify safety hazards and advise on mitigation.
• Develop and implement safe operating procedures and policies.
• Focus on continuous improvement and partner with management and field staff to improve safety performance.
• Advise on safety rules and teach proper safety techniques.
• Develop, coordinate and conduct safety training for the organization.
• Participate in accident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Human Resources on workers’ compensation claims administration.
• Perform other safety-related duties and projects as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Work closely with Safety Managers and the Chief Risk Officer to support companywide and project-specific safety initiatives.
• Serve as a corporate safety professional, demonstrating ownership over all safety functions;
• Conduct safety inspections on project sites to ensure compliance with safety standards and policies;
• Identify and advise project staff of safety hazards and means to mitigate;
• Research, develop and implement best practices in safe operating procedures and policies;
• Focus on continuous improvement and partner with management, project staff, and others to achieve improved safety performance;
• Advise on safety rules and teach proper safety techniques;
• Develop, coordinate and conduct safety training and provide up to date safety information to the organization;
• Participate in accident & incident reviews to determine root cause(s) and appropriate corrective actions;
• Partner with Human Resources on the administration of Workers Comp claims.
• Perform other safety-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction safety, occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
• Zero to five years of professional experience in safety, construction, or a related area.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, organizational, and time-management skills.
