NorthStar Energy Solutions is seeking a Safety Professional to lead day-to-day field safety on large data center projects across Texas, focusing on underground electric, fiber, duct bank, and dry utility installations.

The ideal candidate has extensive construction safety experience, OSHA 30 certification, and strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, and risk mitigation. You will coach field crews, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 Construction certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of construction experience with underground utilities, civil/sitework or dry utility work.
• Minimum 2 years supporting safety operations on large-scale data center, industrial or utility projects.
• Strong knowledge of excavation and trenching safety, hazard recognition and risk mitigation.
• Willingness to travel as project needs require.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

About this Role

NorthStar Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced and dedicated Safety Professional to support underground and dry utility construction operations on large scale data center projects across Texas. In this role, you will lead day to day field safety efforts for crews installing critical utility infrastructure, including underground electric, fiber, telecom, duct bank, and other dry utility systems that support mission critical data center facilities.

The ideal candidate brings extensive construction safety experience with a strong background in underground utilities, excavation, trenching, civil construction, and dry utility installations. This position plays a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, identifying and mitigating jobsite risks, and fostering a strong safety culture across multiple active construction projects.

What You'll Do

• Conduct regular field audits and site inspections to identify and mitigate safety risks associated with underground and dry utility construction activities.
• Monitor and support safe work practices related to excavation, trenching, shoring, utility locating, drilling, duct bank installation, backfilling, and heavy equipment operations.
• Provide real-time safety guidance and coaching to field personnel, supervisors, and subcontractors working on data center infrastructure projects.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company policies, client-specific safety requirements, and excavation safety regulations.
• Lead daily safety meetings, pre-task planning discussions, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and tailgate meetings.
• Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and follow-up activities.
• Conduct safety observations and audits to verify compliance with excavation, trenching, confined space, lockout/tagout, and utility protection requirements.
• Maintain project safety documentation, reports, training records, inspections, and compliance logs.
• Partner with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and client representatives to drive a proactive safety culture.
• Assist with onboarding, orientation, and ongoing safety training for field personnel and subcontractors.

What You'll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5 years of construction experience, with significant exposure to underground utility, civil, sitework, or dry utility construction.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supporting safety operations on large-scale data center, industrial, mission-critical, or utility infrastructure projects.
• Strong working knowledge of excavation and trenching safety requirements, utility locating practices, and underground construction hazards.
• OSHA 30 Construction certification required; additional safety certifications preferred.
• Experience supporting projects involving underground electric, telecom, fiber, duct bank, natural gas distribution, water, sewer, or other utility infrastructure.
• Thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, incident prevention, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors in the field.
• Experience working with multiple contractors and subcontractors in fast-paced construction environments.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management platforms.
• Willingness to travel as project needs require.

Preferred Experience:

• Data center campus development and utility infrastructure construction.
• Excavation, trenching, and shoring operations.
• Horizontal directional drilling (HDD), boring, and duct bank installations.
• Dry utility construction including electric, fiber, telecommunications, and site infrastructure.
• Heavy civil and site development projects.
• Utility damage prevention and One Call/811 compliance programs.
