Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking an Occupational Safety and Health professional to lead the safety program across the agency, directing OSH activities and advising leadership on safety policy and incident response.

The role covers analysis of hazards, development of safety standards, and coordination with headquarters and field components to implement CBP’s safety management framework. Position located across multiple duty locations; reporting is to the selected duty location.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate education in the major study of safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or related fields with at least 24 semester hours in safety/occupational health disciplines.
• Experience in safety/occupational health that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Planning and directing occupational safety and health program activities.
• Advising management on responses to employee safety concerns, OSHA investigations, injuries, and related issues.
• Analyzing safety data and trends to identify root causes and recommend remedial actions.
• Serving as the Federal Emergency Response Official (FERO) for safety and guiding disaster readiness plans.
• Providing technical expertise in safety management to support CBP's safety framework and engage with headquarters and field components.
