Job description

Purpose: Provide technical support to management in the implementation and maintenance of the corporate HSE program.

Work Schedule: Varies by location. Must have open availability any time any day of the week. Length of employment is limited to job assignment and/or project duration.

Essential Skills (may include but are not limited to the ability to):

  • Create and implement workplace HSE plans and procedures
  • Evaluate HSE practices and procedures for risk assessment and following legal guidelines
  • Conduct accident prevention training to include HSE training
  • Inspect and monitor projects for unsafe workplace conditions and acts
  • Monitor employee conformity to HSE policies and procedures
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to find cause and take prevention measures for further incidents
  • Handle worker's compensation claims in the event of a workplace accident
  • Suggest solutions, improvements, and prevention steps for HSE issues
  • Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow up assessments.
  • Plans, implements, and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs.
  • Plans, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive HSE programs on premises or at project site locations.
  • Provides project management team with guidance on HSE matters and confirm project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices.

Education/Expérience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Health, Engineering or related discipline preferred
  • Certification within the Board of Certified Safety Professionals® (OHST, CHST, ASP, CSP) preferred
  • Minimum 8 years large scale commercial, government, or industrial project experience; including at least 4 years management level within the HSE profession

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 pounds with assistance
