Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in safety/health or related field.
• 2-year degree with electrical background and 3+ years construction experience.
• OSHA 30/OSHA 500 or related background required or considered.
• Willingness to travel one month per year and on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Manages and implements the ESCO Group safety program throughout the company.
• Schedules and provides necessary safety training for all new employees.
• Coordinates safety training for existing employees.
• Maintains job site inspections and safety meetings.
• Maintains chemical inventory records for Hazardous Communication Program.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ESCO policies.

SAFETY MANAGER I

Location: Mount Pleasant, Iowa or Ottumwa, Iowa
Reports to: Safety Director
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Typical Working Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm

May require extended hours including holidays and weekends due to the nature of ESCO’s client support model. Occasional travel to other ESCO offices or client sites may be required but generally does not exceed 10%.

Position Summary

The Safety Manager I position is to provide support to the ESCO Group Safety Department. To help lead and maintain a high value of safety in the workplace. The primary role for this position will be to provide day-to-day safety support, training, inspections, audits, and compliance across assigned business units.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages and implements the ESCO Group safety program throughout the company.
• Schedules and provide necessary safety training for all new employees.
• Coordinates, collaborates, and schedules necessary safety training for all existing employees.
• Show leadership skills and quality in the role of Safety Manager.
• Helps maintain and coordinate job site inspections.
• Audit, verify and possibly conduct weekly safety meetings.
• Monitor and help coordinate proper test intervals for various equipment.
• Maintains the chemical inventory records for the Hazardous Communication Program.
• Accurately and confidentially maintains ESCO Group records and other sensitive employee data.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
• Follows all guidelines, polices, and procedures established by ESCO Group.
• Complete annual continuing educations courses as required.
• Utilize, support, and enhance ESCO Group’s standards and best practices.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety/Health or related field preferred

• In lieu of the above requirements, relevant experience will be considered

Required:

• Must be willing to travel away from home one month total per year
• Willingness to travel on short notice
• Valid and unrestricted drivers license
