Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Project Safety Manager to lead and oversee safety programs on heavy civil construction projects. You will develop project-specific safety plans, conduct site inspections, lead toolbox talks, and ensure regulatory compliance to keep workers safe.

Responsibilities include investigating incidents, coordinating with project teams, maintaining records, and serving as the primary safety contact on site. A bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of safety experience in heavy civil construction.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Position Overview

The Project Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs on heavy civil construction projects. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company safety standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about creating a safe work environment for all team members.

Working Conditions

• Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels.
• Office Environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
