General Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role oversees job site safety inspections, employee training, and compliance with OSHA and industry standards. The Safety Manager works closely with superintendents, foremen, and project managers to ensure a culture of safety awareness and risk prevention across all operations. The Safety Manager must communicate fluently in both English and Spanish; bilingual proficiency is required.

Key Duties

Safety Program Development & Implementation:

• Develop and enforce company-wide safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory safety requirements.
• Monitor and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazard communication programs.
• Communicate fluently in both English and Spanish; bilingual proficiency is required.

Job Site Safety Inspections & Audits:

• Conduct regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety violations, implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain records of safety audits, incidents, and corrective measures.

Training & Employee Safety Education:

• Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and new hire safety orientations.
• Provide ongoing safety training for employees and supervisors.
• Develop emergency response plans and ensure preparedness for potential incidents.

Incident Investigation & Reporting:

• Respond to and investigate accidents, injuries, and safety concerns.
• Complete accident reports and implement corrective measures.
• Work with management to resolve safety violations and prevent reoccurrence.

Qualification Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in construction safety management.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, safety procedures, and accident prevention.

Skills & Competencies:

• Ability to conduct safety training and enforce policies.
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management software.

Physical Demands

• Frequent site visits, requiring walking on rough terrain.
• Ability to lift 25-50 lbs when handling safety equipment.

Work Environment

• Field-based role with some office responsibilities.
• Regular exposure to construction sites, heavy equipment, and weather conditions.
