Job Summary: This is a safety manager position responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive safety programs across our 3 distribution centers and fleet operations. This role is responsible for developing, managing, and enforcing safety policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company standards. The Safety Manager will work closely with warehouse staff, drivers, and leadership to foster a culture of safety, reduce risk, and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain safety policies and procedures for both warehouse and transportation operations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain all safety-related documentation, including incident reports, training logs, and inspection records.
  • Monitor driver performance and compliance.
  • Conducts investigations of vehicle incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Leads incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and timely reporting.
  • Collaborates with fleet leaders to ensure vehicles are properly maintained and meet safety standards.
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training programs for new hires and ongoing employee development.
  • Promote safety awareness through campaigns, signage and toolbox talks.
  • Coordinate with HR and Workers’ Comp providers on injury claims and return to work programs.
  • Serves as the point of contact for all-safety matters within the facility and fleet operations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to integrate safety into operational decision-making.
  • Foster a proactive, safety-first culture across all departments.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with warehouse safety standards, including forklift operations, PPE, ergonomics, and hazard communication (HAZCOM).
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Ability to implement and manage safety policies and procedures tailored to both warehouse and transportation.
  • Strong skills in delivering safety training to diverse teams (e.g., drivers, warehouse associates).
  • Ability to create engaging and effective training materials and conduct toolbox talks or safety meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify risks proactively and implement corrective/preventive measures.
  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and responding quickly to safety concerns or incidents.
  • Comfortable using safety compliance software.
  • Able to work in a mixture work conditions such as office, warehouse, and yard/transportation environment.
  • Able to regularly walk and stand.
  • Able to travel between distribution centers or to offsite transportation locations within the state.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Healthy & Safety, Environmental Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a safety role within distribution, logistics or transportation operations.
  • Class CDL A license (preferred).

The incumbent must be able to pass any required drug test. The incumbent must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information they encounter.
