Job summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. is seeking a Safety Manager for our industrial division. You will lead safety programs, audit compliance, and drive a culture of safety on project sites with relocation to active locations.

The role requires relocation to project sites, TDY availability, and frequent travel. You will collaborate with OSHA authorities, develop training materials, and coach workers on safe practices to ensure zero-harm outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent.
  • Strong work ethic and good interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with standard office software; adaptable.
  • Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements preferred.
  • Safety Professional or EMT certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental health and safety programs at project/district level.
  • Analyze illness and accident data; propose safety feature improvements.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify hazards.
  • Monitor workforce safety behaviors and coach employees.
  • Develop training materials (manuals, slides, etc.).
  • Build a paperwork system to track safety training records.
  • Interpret safety regulations for the project.
  • Coordinate and present safety training for client requirements.
  • Interface with OSHA officials during site visits.

District Overview

Kiewit Foundations Co. is a full-service geotechnical foundation contractor operating across North America. This role will require candidates to fully relocate to an active project site or candidates must be willing to work on TDY (per diems), and be available on the project site full time with the opportunity to travel home on a turnaround schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project and district level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project and district level; recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Routinely inspecting the facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Routinely monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coach employees on the correct behaviors when observed
  • Developing environmental health and safety training materials to include manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations etc.
  • Developing a paperwork management system to track training records to track all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors.
  • Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
  • Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements including new hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout and repertory.
  • Interfacing with Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) (Provincial or federal) officials/inspectors in the event or a site visit.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent degree/work experience
  • Strong work ethic; good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and work collaboratively on a team environment
  • Ability to operate a standard laptop computer as well as knowledge of and experience with standard office computer software.
  • Ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements is preferred
  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is also desired
