Job summary

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 5+ years of hazardous materials or industrial safety experience, and CSP/CHMM certifications.

Responsibilities

Salary: $80,000-$120,000 per year plus bonus incentives, PTO, Health, Vision, Dental, 401K

SET Environmental is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Safety Manager to champion workplace safety and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will develop, implement, and oversee robust health and safety programs designed to mitigate risk, protect our employees and stakeholders, and foster a proactive safety culture across Michigan-area managed locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Development & Compliance: Design, update, and implement comprehensive safety and health policies, ensuring ongoing compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and RCRA regulations.
• Risk Management & Audits: Lead the facility safety inspection and audit program; identify workplace hazards and spearhead corrective actions to minimize incident rates and severity.
• Training & Orientation: Establish, update, and deliver engaging safety orientations and training sessions for new hires and current personnel.
• Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations for all accidents, incidents, and injuries, translating findings into actionable prevention strategies.
• Performance & Culture: Track safety metrics, report performance to leadership, and partner on employee incentive and recognition programs to build a positive safety mindset at all levels.
• Collaboration: Lead regularly scheduled safety meetings across regional locations and manage miscellaneous duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

Position RequirementsEducation & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Hazardous Materials Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on experience in the hazardous materials or industrial safety sector.

Certifications & Technical Knowledge

Active certification in the safety or hazardous materials field, such as:

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and RCRA regulatory standards.
• Proven leadership and planning skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully implement complex safety directives.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of an organization.
• High degree of enthusiasm, self‑motivation, and an unwavering commitment to a positive safety culture.
• Superior organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
