Job summary

Horwitz is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead the Safety Program at the Fargo, ND Data Center and associated off-site facility. You will oversee project safety, enforce initiatives, and mentor staff while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role requires managing inspections, investigations, and safety training, with a focus on creating a proactive, safe work culture across our mechanical service and construction projects in the region.

Qualifications

• 5-10 Years of experience managing a Mechanical Service or Construction safety program.
• BCSP certification (CHST®, SMP®, ASP® or CSP®) or OSHA 500/510 Certification required.
• EHS related undergraduate degree program preferred but not required.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the Safety Program and Project Specific Safety and Health Initiatives.
• Provide technical safety advice and mentoring to project employees.
• Stay updated on State and Federal rules and project regulations relevant to scope of work.
• Conduct in-house safety training and coordinate third-party training.
• Develop or update project-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Handle workers’ compensation, property, and liability claims for the project.
• Assist with new-hire safety orientations for project employees.
• Manage weekly site safety inspections and lead accident investigations.
• Lead the Project Safety Committee and implement corrective actions.

The Safety Manager will lead the Horwitz Safety Program at the Fargo, ND Data Center location including the off-site fabrication facility. In addition to the project site safety responsibilities, they shall complete all project related tasks assigned to them by the Safety Director and Project Executive Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

These responsibilities generally describe the nature of the position and may not be all inclusive:

• Enforce the Safety Program and Project Specific Safety and Health Initiatives.
• Provides technical safety advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to all project employees
  regarding Horwitz safety policies and procedures.
• Responsible for staying updated in all necessary State and Federal rules and regulations as
  well as any project specific regulations relevant to the scope of work.
• Performing in-house safety training as well as coordinating third-party training sessions.
• Developing or updating Project specific safety policies and procedures.
• Reporting, handling, and monitoring of worker’s compensation, property, and general
  liability insurance claims associated with the Project.
• Assist with conducting new-hire safety orientations for project employees.
• Manage site safety inspections on the Project site and ensure inspections are being
  conducted on a weekly basis.
• Lead investigations of all assigned accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Leads Company’s Project Safety Committee.
• Investigate and provide corrective actions for all Project incidents.

Skills and Abilities:

• Intermediate to advanced level knowledge of State and Federal environmental, health, and
  safety standards and regulations.
• Intermediate knowledge of commonly used computer programs (MS Office – Word, Excel,
  and Outlook).
• Knowledge of Procore and SiteForm preferred
• Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meets challenging work goals.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:
