Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field (preferred).
  • One or more safety certifications (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of construction safety experience.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA 1926 Construction standards and OSHA 1904 Recordkeeping standards.
  • Familiar with Procore and Smartsheet; MS Office proficiency.

Job description

This role supports Colasanti self-perform operations for concrete scopes of work for an upcoming project in Cleveland, OH. Approximately 75% of time should be spent in the field observing activities, interacting with crews & subcontractors, and collaborating with Superintendents to ensure a safe work environment. This individual will report directly to the Corporate Safety Director.

Primary Responsibilities: (but not limited to)
  • Attend daily morning coordination meetings with Foremen and Superintendents.
  • Maintain field presence to supervise work activities and establish working relationships with field crews.
  • Review and sign-off on daily Job Safety Analysis / Pre-Task Plans.
  • Manage injury cases, return-to-work policies, and coordinate with Corporate Safety Director to minimize loss outcomes.
  • Respond to incidents with poise, act as the incident commander, and implement response protocols.
  • Report incidents, conduct investigations, and complete reports in a timely manner for leadership review.
  • Accompany employees to health clinics and care visits as needed, and coordinate with Corporate Safety Director throughout the return-to-work process.
  • Stay informed on upcoming work and plan ahead to reduce risk.
  • Maintain inventory of PPE and required safety supplies. Communicate with vendors and project management to place orders for necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Deliver safety training on topics including but not limited to equipment operation, fall protection, confined space, silica awareness and respiratory protection, power tool operation, rigging & signaling, and more.
  • Working knowledge of high-risk hazards such as cranes & rigging, scaffolding, hot work, trenching/excavation, and fall protection.
  • Review safety documentation for compliance with client and project requirements.
  • Maintain a professional tone and demeanor when collaborating with co-workers and client representatives. Partner with client safety representatives on assigned project(s).
  • Manage employee training records and logs in company software.
  • Utilize Procore software for permitting, inspections, incident reporting, and other tasks as needed.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, or related field. (preferred)
  • At least one certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals – CSP, ASP, CHST, OHST, STSC, or GSP. (preferred)
  • OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Safety & Health Standards for Construction Industry. (preferred)
  • Prior working knowledge of concrete construction and formwork systems. (preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED training within the last 2 years. (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA 1926 Construction standards and OSHA 1904 Recordkeeping standards.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and other software such as Procore and Smartsheet.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Must be able to work effectively in both union and non-union environments.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Capable of working outdoors in hot or cold environments, standing or walking for long periods of time, and climbing stairs or ladders.
