Job description

Qwest Electric is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead and support our safety program across multiple commercial electrical construction projects. This position will work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, field employees, general contractors, and company leadership to maintain a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, customer, and project-specific requirements. The Safety Manager will have the authority and support of Qwest Leadership to address unsafe conditions and will play an important role as the company continues to take on larger and more complex projects.

About You:

You have hands-on safety experience on large commercial construction projects, preferably within electrical, MEP, data center, healthcare, industrial, or other complex construction environments. This is not intended to be a desk-only safety position. You're someone who can build relationships with field employees, understand how electrical construction is actually performed, identify problems before they become incidents, and work with operations to find practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee Qwest Electric's company-wide safety program.
  • Provide direct safety support for large and complex construction projects.
  • Perform regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations.
  • Work directly with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to identify hazards and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task plans, site-specific safety plans, and required safety documentation.
  • Coordinate with general contractor and owner safety representatives.
  • Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and develop corrective actions.
  • Conduct employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required safety records.
  • Monitor PPE, fall protection, ladder, lift, electrical, excavation, and other construction safety requirements.
  • Assist project teams with planning high-risk activities before work begins.
  • Track safety performance and communicate trends, concerns, and corrective actions to company leadership.
  • Visit multiple active projects and maintain a strong field presence.
  • Help build a safety culture focused on accountability, planning, and preventing incidents rather than simply enforcing rules after the fact.
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of construction safety experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting large commercial construction projects strongly preferred. Candidates should have experience managing safety on projects with significant manpower, multiple subcontractors, aggressive schedules, and extensive GC/owner safety requirements. Experience with projects exceeding $25 million in total construction value or electrical scopes exceeding $5 million is preferred.
  • Electrical, MEP, data center, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical construction experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with large general contractors and project-specific safety programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
  • OSHA 30 required or ability to obtain immediately.
  • CHST, CSP, STSC, or similar safety certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with incident investigations, safety audits, employee training, and corrective-action programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field employees, supervisors, customers, and senior management.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Must be comfortable spending significant time in the field and traveling between Qwest project locations.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license with no restrictions required.
Salary & Benefits:
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, PTO & holidays.
  • Opportunity for career growth in a rapidly expanding industry.
