We are a leading packaging manufacturer in Orange County, CA, producing high-quality solutions with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Our manufacturing environment is non-union, operating conveyor-based production systems that demand a sharp eye for safety and consistent quality performance.

Overview

The Safety and Quality Manager will play a critical role in driving workplace safety and ensuring consistent quality across our packaging operations. This position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing compliance programs while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. While this role has no direct reports, the manager will collaborate closely with two employees who currently hold quality-related responsibilities within other divisions and act as key support resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety and quality programs aligned with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA, industry, and customer requirements to maintain safe and high-performing operations.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory audits and inspections, ensuring timely preparation of documentation and responses to inquiries.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate safety training programs and quality awareness meetings across diverse teams.
  • Serve as the point of contact for safety-related incidents, including on-call support in the event of injuries during early or late shifts (starting at 4:30 AM or 11 PM).
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure consistent implementation of safety and quality standards throughout the organization.
  • Travel within Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties to support audits, inspections, and warehouse visits as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, quality management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in compliance, safety, or quality management, ideally within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and participate in audits and inspections, including documentation preparation and auditor communication.
  • Track record of implementing and sustaining compliance programs that deliver measurable safety and quality improvements.
  • Experience leading training initiatives and facilitating meetings across diverse groups.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
  • Reports: No direct reports; collaborates with two quality-support employees from other divisions.
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates must be local to California.
  • Work Hours: Standard 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM schedule, with occasional calls/visits required during earlier or later shifts.
  • Travel: Primarily within Orange, Los Angeles, and Riverside Counties. Limited out-of-state travel is expected.
  • Certifications: ISO 9001 quality management systems, SQF (Safe Quality Food), as well as additional required add-on standards (SFI and FSC), SOPs and CAPAs, Cal-OSHA requirements and procedures
