Job summary

Cross Resource Group is seeking a Safety & Security Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs across warehouse, transportation, and manufacturing operations in the Greater Burlington area. You will ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and company safety standards while fostering a proactive safety culture.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing or logistics, strong leadership and communication skills, and a track record of improving

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS, occupational safety, transportation safety, or regulatory compliance.
  • Manufacturing, food production, distribution, or logistics experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, and job safety analyses.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee safety training, including PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, ergonomics, and other required programs.
  • Promote employee engagement and continuous improvement through safety committees and awareness initiatives.
  • Partner with operations leadership to build and maintain a strong safety culture across multiple shifts.
  • Maintain DOT compliance for drivers and fleet operations.
  • Oversee driver qualification files, medical certifications, vehicle inspections, and Hours of Service documentation.
  • Lead audits and prepare for regulatory or insurance inspections.
  • Partner with fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles meet safety requirements.

Position Overview

A growing food manufacturing company is seeking a Safety & Security Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs across warehouse, transportation, and manufacturing operations. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and company safety standards while fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate has experience leading EHS initiatives in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environments and is comfortable partnering with operations, fleet, and HR to improve safety performance, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement.

Key Responsibilities
Environmental, Health & Safety
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, and applicable regulatory requirements.

DOT & Fleet Compliance
  • Maintain DOT compliance for company drivers and fleet operations.
  • Oversee driver qualification files, medical certifications, vehicle inspections, and Hours of Service documentation.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and prepare for regulatory or insurance inspections.
  • Lead investigations involving vehicle or driver incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Partner with fleet maintenance to ensure vehicles meet all regulatory and company safety requirements.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary safety resource for operations leadership and employees.
  • Coach supervisors and team members on safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Human Resources on injury management, incident reporting, and return-to-work programs.
  • Communicate safety expectations and performance across departments while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS, occupational safety, transportation safety, or regulatory compliance.
  • Manufacturing, food production, distribution, or logistics experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations.
  • Experience developing and managing EHS programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
  • CDL (Class A or B) and current DOT medical card are preferred but not required.
Work Environment
  • Full-time, onsite role supporting multiple local facilities.
  • Occasional local travel between facilities.
  • Availability to respond to after-hours incidents or emergencies as needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, climb, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in both warehouse and manufacturing environments, including hot and cold conditions.
  • Sufficient vision and mobility to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
