Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks an experienced HSE Trainer/Inspector to support site Health, Safety, and Environment programs. You will develop and deliver HSE training, maintain training records, and coordinate sessions to ensure compliance across maintenance and construction activities.

The role requires classroom training abilities, 5–7 years in HSE, and strong communication with site personnel. A 5/8 work schedule and opportunity for professional growth are included.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma/GED and related HSE education.
  • Capable of delivering in-classroom HSE training to employees in dynamic work environments.
  • Proficient with MS Office and training portals to access/regulate training.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and navigate confined spaces as part of site training.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver/Present HSE training modules from procedures to all employee levels.
  • Maintain/Monitor employee training matrix for all levels.
  • Coordinate/Schedule training sessions to ensure expirations are not exceeded.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings and site audits.
  • Support HSE program development and training initiatives.

Job description

Located at the site, takes daily direction from the Site Manager and/or HSE Supervisor supporting all Health, Safety, and Environment initiatives and personnel. Supports all HSE functions that directly impacts training, report writing, quality control, plan development and implementation. Support health standards directed by regulatory agencies to prevent hazards and diseases from work sites. Under general direction, is accountable for the HSE Administration duties supporting the site HSE Program to include the HSE Training Program. Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of various education venues specific to Business Administration, Record Keeping, Teaching/Instruction with General Knowledge of HSE Standards/Guidelines. Typically requires 5-7 years of job related experience.

Skills and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Capable of being exposed to dusty, hot/cold/wet conditions (snow-rain)
  • Possesses 5-7 years of related HSE experience with achieved certifications/qualifications through educational institutions, technical programs, NCCER etc.
  • Possesses 3-5 years of experience direct teaching/instruction of employees within a class-room training environment supporting a fast-paced maintenance/construction type environment
  • Possesses general computer skills (i.e. email, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint programs), good verbal communications skills, in class-room settings including phone, radio, and plant intercom systems, projector screen set-up/use.
  • Capable of developing HSE training subject modules, and procedures accessing/using company training portals, client portals/share-drives, Government/State agency regulations/guidelines along with utilizing personal job-related experiences.
  • Capable of presenting HSE related training materials to small groups through a class-room setting to include utilizing hands-on illustrations.
  • Capable of Planning & Scheduling HSE training/meeting activities.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, elevated walkways, and walk, stand, stoop for extended periods of time, enter tight congested areas to include awkward positions.

Specific Description
  • Works closely with and takes oversight direction from the B&R Site Manager and/or HSE Supervisor supporting B&R Core Value/Competencies to include Client Core Value/Competencies.
  • Develop HSE training subject modules using references from company procedures/policies, client/owner procedures/policies, state/federal regulatory procedures, etc. to all levels of employees.
  • Deliver/Present HSE training subject modules from company procedures/policies, client/owner procedures/policies, state/federal regulatory procedures, etc. to all levels of employees.
  • Maintain/Monitor employee training matrix for all employee levels.
  • Coordinate/Schedule employee training sessions to ensure that training expirations are not exceeded.
  • Maintains company Incident Management System for site entries.
  • Participates in Gate Greet assignments.
  • Participate in daily end of shift employee safety huddles is being conducted to ensure employees are fit, and that all work assignments have been completed as scheduled.
  • With guidance, may lead, and plan employee participation in the B&R Site Monthly Mass Safety Meeting.
  • Participate in B&R Monthly RSLT Meeting (Conference call), and the B&R Monthly Focus Meeting (Conference call).
  • Participates in B&R/Client Daily/Weekly safety audits observing work activity.
  • Maintains Weekly Safety Audit matrix (findings-corrective actions)
  • May participates in Daily/Weekly DuPont Capital Project/Maintenance planning/scheduling meetings.
  • Maintains quality service values, and customer satisfaction initiatives by supporting organization standards.
  • Reviews systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices for developing subject related training modules.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Creates and Sustains a Personal Safe Work Environment supporting, Supervision, Coaching, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, and Dealing with complexity.
  • Identifies opportunities for outstanding employee HSE performance and assists others with applying the appropriate employee recognition.
Work Schedule

The work schedule is 5/8

Work Schedule Note: HSE Inspector will be expected to support project schedules that require; week-day after normal hours, weekend hours, night-shift or any special defined work schedule that is needed to support maintenance/capital project work activity.
