Job summary

The Safety Manager at Complete Fence will own the safety program end to end, writing policies, setting standards, and building systems that keep every job site, crew, and driver safe and in line with OSHA and customer requirements.

Reporting to leadership and with the Field Safety Specialist under you, you'll manage certifications, incident investigations, and corrective actions, and partner with Fleet and HR to embed safety as a daily operational norm.

Safety on a job site is critical as is the culture that drives it, and that's exactly what you'd be responsible for at Complete Fence. You would own the safety function from end to end, writing the policies, setting the standards, and building the systems that keep every crew, every job site, and every driver working safely and in line with OSHA and customer requirements, while the Field Safety Specialist works under you to put those standards into practice in the field every day.

This is a role for someone who wants to build a program from the ground up rather than just maintain one that already exists, and who is just as comfortable writing policy as they are walking a job site to see whether the program you build it living and breathing.

What you'll actually be doing

You will write and maintain the company's safety policies, procedures, and training programs, and you will be the person who sets the standards that Superintendents, crews, and the Field Safety Specialist are expected to work to on every job. As the company grows, you will be expected to grow the program along with it.

You will own the full certification and compliance calendar, covering OSHA, DOT, and whatever additional requirements individual customers bring to the table, and you will keep the company's documentation in a state where it could stand up to an audit on any given day. Working alongside Fleet and HR, you will partner with internal departments to make safety 'part of what we do around here" and not an oversight.

When something does go wrong, you will own the incident from the first report through investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action, and closeout, and you will report findings and trends to leadership and to the company's insurers in a way that turns each incident into a lesson the whole organization actually learns from.

You will track the leading and lagging indicators that tell the real story of how safe the company is, including near misses, recordables, and EMR, and you will establish and chair the Safety Committee, using it as the ear to the ground for continuous improvement. You may also engage with customers customers and general contractors on safety expectations and performance, and you will lead, coach, and hold accountable the Field Safety Specialist and any additional safety staff who join the team as it grows.

A Safety Manager who is doing this job well is the reason incidents keep trending down year over year, the reason an audit never turns up a surprise, and the reason crews follow the standards because they believe in it and not because someone is standing over their shoulder.

What you bring

• 5 or more years leading safety programs in construction or field operations, including experience building or substantially improving a program rather than only administering one
• OSHA 500 or 510 trainer certification
• Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis
• A valid driver's license

Job Description

The Safety Manager owns Complete Fence's safety program end to end, covering policy, process, and incident management. This role builds the standards and systems that keep every job site, crew, and driver operating safely and in compliance with OSHA and customer requirements, setting the rules the field lives by and making sure they hold up in practice. The Field Safety Specialist reports into this role and executes safety in the field day to day.

Core Accountabilities

Safety Policy & Program Ownership

• Write and maintain the company's safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Set the safety standards and expectations that Superintendents, crews, and the Field Safety Specialist work to on every job site.
• Build and evolve the safety program as the company grows, rather than simply administering what already exists.

Compliance & Documentation

• Own the certification and compliance calendar, including OSHA, DOT, and customer-specific requirements.
• Keep the company's safety documentation audit-ready at all times.
• Support DOT compliance, including driver qualification files and road-test scheduling, in partnership with Fleet and HR.

Incident Management

• Own the full incident lifecycle, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action tracking, and closeout.
• Report incident findings and trends to leadership and insurers.
• Ensure every incident results in a corrective action that reduces the likelihood of recurrence.

Performance Tracking & Continuous Improvement

• Track leading and lagging safety indicators, including near misses, recordables, and EMR, and use them to drive continuous improvement.
• Chair the company Safety Standards Committee and use it to turn field-level findings into company-wide policy.
• Partner with customers and general contractors on safety expectations and performance reviews.

Team Leadership

• Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Field Safety Specialist and any additional safety staff added as the team grows.
• Coach and develop the safety team's ability to influence field behavior and hold crews accountable to standards.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• 5 or more years leading safety programs in construction or field operations, including experience building or substantially improving a safety program.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 500 or 510 trainer certification.
• CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or similar credential.
• Experience in the fence or commercial construction industry.
