Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Safety Manager to support a multi-year construction project at Savannah River Site. The role oversees safety and health programs across all activities, ensures OSHA/DOE compliance, and provides field leadership.

Candidates should have at least seven years of construction safety leadership on industrial or large-scale projects, with strong knowledge of safety standards and incident investigations. DOE or nuclear project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Seven+ years of construction safety leadership on industrial, heavy civil, utility, or large-scale projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements and industry practices.
  • Experience providing safety oversight for high-hazard construction activities.
  • Experience with incident investigation, corrective actions, field inspections, and safety program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage implementation of the project safety and health program across all construction activities.
  • Provide field leadership and oversight to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOE, site-specific, and project safety requirements.
  • Perform routine field inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and work practices.
  • Provide safety oversight for excavation and trenching, heavy equipment, lifting and rigging, demolition, electrical work, welding/hot work, confined spaces, and underground utility construction.
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), work plans, permits, and other safety documentation.
  • Coordinate safety requirements with Construction Management, Superintendents, subcontractors, and project leadership.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, root cause evaluations, corrective actions, and lessons learned.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure identified deficiencies are promptly corrected.
  • Track safety observations, incidents, corrective actions, and performance metrics.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate safety meetings, orientations, toolbox talks, and required training.
  • Maintain required safety documentation and support client, DOE, and project safety audits and assessments.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent danger or unacceptable safety condition exists.

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Safety Manager opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.

Safety Manager

The Safety Manager will support a multi-year construction project involving significant civil, mechanical, electrical, underground utility, piping, and site infrastructure construction.

Duties
  • Manage implementation of the project safety and health program across all construction activities.

Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of construction safety experience, including safety leadership experience on industrial, heavy civil, utility, or large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements and industry safety practices.
  • Experience providing safety oversight for high-hazard construction activities.
  • Experience with incident investigation, corrective actions, field inspections, and safety program implementation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous DOE, nuclear, federal, or highly regulated construction experience.
  • Experience with DOE construction safety requirements.
  • Previous Savannah River Site or other DOE site experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or similar professional safety certification.
