RHI Magnesita is offering a Safety Intern position for Summer 2027 at our York, US facility. This fully on-site internship provides hands-on exposure to OSHA compliance, incident investigations, data analysis, and safety program support within a manufacturing environment.

You will gain experience in safety training, risk assessments, and cross-functional collaboration with operations and leadership, preparing you for a career in Environmental, Health & Safety.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a related field with expected graduation between 2027 and 2029.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous manufacturing, internship, or safety-related experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Program Support: Assist with workplace inspections and safety observations; support hazard identification and corrective action tracking; participate in incident investigations and follow-up actions; help maintain safety records and compliance documentation.
  • Data Management & Reporting: Enter and maintain HSE metrics, reports, and tracking tools; assist in preparing weekly and monthly safety performance reports; support trending analysis for incidents, near misses, inspections and corrective actions.
  • Training & Employee Engagement: Assist with scheduling and coordinating safety training sessions; maintain training records, attendance logs and certifications; support safety awareness campaigns and employee communications.
  • Compliance & Administrative Support: Help maintain SDS records and other compliance documentation; assist with audit prep and regulatory reporting; manage inspection schedules and permit documentation; assist with purchasing and inventory tracking of safety supplies.
  • Professional Development: Gain exposure to manufacturing operations and EHS programs; partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership; complete an internship project and present recommendations.

What You'll Do

Safety Program Support

  • Assist with workplace inspections and safety observations.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of presentations, posters, and other safety-related materials.

Compliance & Administrative Support

  • Help maintain SDS records and other compliance documentation.
  • Assist with audit preparation and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Support management of inspection schedules, compliance deadlines, and permit documentation.
  • Assist with purchasing and inventory tracking of safety supplies and PPE.

Professional Development

  • Gain exposure to manufacturing operations and environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams on safety initiatives.
  • Complete an internship project and present recommendations to site leadership at the conclusion of the program.
What You Bring
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
