Zobility is seeking a Safety Specialist to promote a safe and healthy work environment by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and procedures across sites in Michigan. You will conduct inspections, investigate incidents, and identify hazards to prevent injuries.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field and 2+ years of experience, working knowledge of OSHA regulations, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with MS

Job description

The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs, policies, and procedures. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations while supporting employees and management in identifying and minimizing workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near-miss events and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Monitor and document safety performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
  • Assist in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and risk assessments.
  • Partner with supervisors and management to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Maintain records related to training, inspections, incidents, and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions for identified safety concerns.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives as required.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in workplace safety, EHS, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA 30-Hour Certification, or similar credentials.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with safety management systems and compliance reporting.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk production floors, construction sites, or industrial facilities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May require occasional travel between facilities or worksites.
