Job summary

Heritage Cooperative in Kenton, OH is seeking a Grain Associate to support receiving, handling, and loading grain operations. You will operate grain receiving systems, conveyors, scales, and related equipment as trained, while maintaining safety and accuracy in documentation.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, ability to follow procedures, teamwork, and flexibility during peak seasons. Candidates with prior grain handling experience or forklift certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to safely operate grain handling equipment after training.
• Ability to safely operate forklift after training and certification.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Ability to accurately complete required records, reports, tickets, and documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and others.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a team.
• Ability to recognize and report equipment issues and safety concerns.
• Ability to work flexible hours during peak receiving and harvest seasons.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service and uphold Heritage Cooperative core values.
• Abide by safety policies and applicable regulations to ensure safety of all.
• Assist with safe and efficient receiving of grain from producers and customers.
• Operate grain receiving systems, conveyors, legs, pits, augers, dryers, scales, and other equipment as trained.
• Monitor grain receiving systems and equipment and report issues promptly.
• Assist with grain handling, movement, storage, and transfer between bins, facilities, trucks, railcars, barges, and other locations.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load and unload product safely.
• Load out grain and products according to customer orders and procedures.
• Verify product, quantity, destination, and load information for accuracy.
• Assist with truck, barge, and rail loadout operations as assigned.
• Complete required scale tickets, receiving records, and inventory/inspection forms.
• Assist with grain sampling, testing, grading, and quality control procedures.
• Monitor grain quality and report moisture, temperature, foreign material, or spoilage concerns.
• Assist with grain conditioning, drying, aeration, and storage activities.
• Perform preventative maintenance on grain handling equipment as directed.
• Maintain facilities in a neat, safe, and environmentally sound condition.
• Follow lockout/tagout and shutdown procedures when working around machinery.
• Communicate professionally with producers, customers, drivers, coworkers, and visitors.
• Fulfill customer orders accurately and timely while maintaining service attitude.
• Assist with seasonal grain operations and harvest-related activities.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuing education.
• Follow all company policies and applicable regulations.
• Exhibit an energetic, dependable, and polite attitude throughout workday.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
