Job summary

Mecalux is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist for our Pontiac, IL plant. This on-site role leads safety programs, audits, and training to exceed OSHA standards, safeguarding workers and operations.

You will collaborate with HR and plant leadership to implement continuous safety improvements and ensure regulatory compliance. You will conduct new hire safety orientations, inspect facilities, investigate incidents, and review safety plans for new equipment, while promoting a safe,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
• Experience in health, safety and/or environmental position, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Solid understanding of safe work practices and OSHA.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Ability to work on-site, in Pontiac, IL location 100% (no hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Recommend process and product safety features to reduce exposure to hazards.

• Coordinate with HR and Plant Management on disciplinary actions.

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for all aspects of plant safety. The EHS Specialist will ensure that the plant meets and exceeds all requirements pertaining to all environmental / OSHA regulations, policies, and procedures.Responsibilities:Conduct new hire safety orientation and training and other safety training from time to time and as needed.Provide leadership to plant associates to incorporate continuous improvement principles and techniques ensuring associates are operating in a safe, orderly, and clean environment.Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards.Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation and compliance.Conduct accident investigations and safety audits.Report and review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.Review plans and specifications for construction of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met.Review employee safety programs to determine adequacy.Team with Human Resources and Plant Management to administer disciplinary action.Bachelor's Degree in EngineeringExperience in health, safety, and/or environmental position, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Solid understanding of safe work practices and OSHA.Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and changing environment.Ability and desire to work on-site, in-office at our Pontiac, IL location 100%.
